Tests that can be administered at Urban Integrative IV and Detox Clinic

ADRENAL FUNCTION ASSESSMENT measures cortisol levels. Cortisol is the major stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Measurement of cortisol levels may be a useful means of assessing the ability to cope with stress. Elevated cortisol levels may result in symptoms like feeling tired but wired, sleeping difficulty and anxiety. Symptoms of low cortisol may include fatigue (particularly morning fatigue), increased susceptibility to infection, decreased recovery from exercise, allergies, low blood sugar, burned out feeling, depression and low sex drive. Cortisol also interferes with the action of other hormones creating hormone imbalance.

ANTIOXIDANT TEST measures the number of certain antioxidants in the body (Vitamin E in the form of Gamma-Tocopherol and Alpha-Tocopherol, Coenzyme Q-10, Beta-Carotene, Alpha-Carotene, Lycopene, and Retinol). Antioxidants are substances that protect cells from damage caused by free radicals and prevent them from harming healthy tissue.

ARTERIAL STIFFNESS INDEX TEST (CARDIOVISION)
Heart disease, heart attacks and peripheral vascular disease are so prominent in today’s Western society. Monitoring the condition of your arteries through various tests, such as arterial flexibility test, as well as, blood pressure, pulse and cholesterol levels will help the physician decide as to what future tests should be done, specific treatments or lifestyle changes. Early detection and management are vital in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and great importance to a patient to improve cardiovascular stiffness and health.

BIOELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE ANALYSIS OR BIOIMPEDANCE ANALYSIS (BIA) is a method of assessing your “body composition” – the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. Lowering the percentage of unhealthy body fat and help to reduce risk to a variety of serious health conditions. Read more about BIA here.

ELECTRO-DERMAL SCREENING identifies food sensitivities with the use of an Electro-Dermal screening device. This device measures a change in the electrical properties of the skin in response to different stimulants.

FOOD ALLERGY TESTING identifies allergic foods. This blood test can identify the antibodies called Immunoglobin G (IgG) that the immune system’s defence mechanism produces in response to food allergy. Read about allergy treatments here.

GENE TESTS (also called DNA-based tests) is used in diagnosis, management and counseling for genetic disorders. It involves a direct examination of the DNA molecule. The test can be used for examining your children’s risk for inherited conditions. Knowledge about variations in your DNA can help determine if less or more medications are needed and if there is an increased risk for certain side effects. If the test shows abnormalities, the doctor can advise on lifestyle changes, preventative steps to focus on and personalize your healthcare.

HAIR MINERAL ANALYSIS shows mineral and toxic metals in the body. The hair test for toxic heavy metals can show if the heavy metals such as mercury, aluminium, arsenic, lead, cadmium, antimony and arsenic have accumulated in the body. Results are used as an indication for further diagnostic testing.

HEIDELBERG DIGESTIVE TRACT TEST shows ph levels in the stomach and is important for digestive health. It is non-invasive and uses no X-rays. More info and a questionnaire for an appointment are here.

HORMONE TESTING is helpful for finding out if hormone levels are well balanced.

Saliva Hormone Testing is very useful for finding underlying hormone excesses and deficiencies.
Urine Steroid Hormones Analysis is done at home for a full 24 hours. The amount of hormone in urine essentially shows how hormones are metabolized and eliminated in urine.

MATERIAL REACTIVITY TESTING can be provided to a dentist or a physician so least offensive materials can be chosen and used in patients treatments, evaluating a patient’s sensitivity to bio-medical composites, alloys and other materials used in dental restoratives, surgical implants and prosthetics.

Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing (CMRT) is a laboratory comprehensive blood test. This test used to help identify existing sensitivity problems to 94 chemical groups in an individual patient and measuring the reaction to each. These individual reactions are then cross-referenced against the largest professionally maintained database of trade name bio-medical composites, alloys and other materials of its kind in the world. Read more here.

OXIDATIVE STRESS ANALYSIS evaluates the body levels of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the damage caused to a cell through the oxidative process in which free radicals are created. Damage to cells, tissues and glands can occur if there is an excess of these free radicals.
